A walking boot is designed to limit the movement of your foot and ankle. Air bladders and a special pump are used to control swelling, promote circulation and reduce movement inside the boot. This helps reduce friction on your skin and sheering. A rocker sole design reduces stress on the skin, joints, bones and tendons while walking. Your physician might recommend using a cane or crutches if you’re unable to fully weight bear. These devices can increase balance even if you’re allowed full weight-bearing.
